Love at First Swipe: NYX Matte Lipstick in Tea Rose

One word this week: HECTIC. I wasn’t even able to push through with yesterday’s dinner and show at Barbara’s which I was so excited about. Nonetheless, I don’t want my poor blog shriveling up just when I’ve started to feel a wee bit more passion for writing again.

NYX Lipstick is a favorite among bloggers – known for its affordable price range as well as the substantial quality that comes with it. Finally, I have had the time (and resources) to try this out for myself. 🙂 Thanks to Skye Avenue for providing me my NYX fix (at a very affordable price too!). 🙂

Since I primarily just wanted to try this out first, I bought just two lippies: Matte Lipstick in Tea Rose and Soft Matte Lip Cream in Pink Peach Fuzz. Allow me to rave about the Matte Lipstick in this post. 🙂

NYX Website says:

NYX Matte Lipsticks are highly pigmented, richly formulated lipsticks that glide on smoothly, stay put and impart a non-glossy, high-fashion matte finish as they envelop lips in brilliant color. From Pure Red to Nude, Matte Lipstick is available in 22 rich, shades.

Why it got me in Love at First Swipe? ♥

  • First, the packaging. It’s straightforward, not too fancy yet not too drab that I wouldn’t want to bring out in public.  Continue reading

Long Weekend Diaries: Part 2

Random fact about me: I’m a mood writer. When my mood’s off, I usually can’t write substantially. Much less, properly.

I really wanted to write extensively for Part 2 of my Long Weekend Diaries but I just feel so out of my element. Will post photos, instead. This post is dedicated to one person I really miss.

Marchin’ up at Army Navy – Taft

You know what they say in Filipino, “ang may pinagsaluhan sa hapagkainan ay mayroong pinagsamahan”? I’m not sure about the exact English translation (to stay true to the expression’s context) but basically it’s about relationships being built over meals shared. Would you agree?

I have lots of fond memories at Army Navy, a burger+burrito place with a cool atmosphere that always manages to give off a weekend vibe (even on a weekday lunch break! \m/). I’ve been there with a lot of people in my life save for my parents and a few friends. I’m glad that I ‘broke bread’ with new friends tonight in none other than…*drumroll please*…Army Navy!

*Bring out the photos!*

Excited About: Dinner at Barbara’s with Cultural Show :)

Exciting days ahead! 🙂 J is celebrating his birthday soon while mine is only two weeks away! Yippeeee! Before I get ahead of myself, let me just share with you what I’m looking forward to next week.

Presenting the Dinner Buffet and Cultural Dance Show at Barbara’s in Intramuros!

For all the Manileña in me, I’ve never been to Intramuros until early this year (I’ve been a Manila girl since I was 2!). My friend and I visited several museums around the area and ended the afternoon with a merienda at Barbara’s. Little did I know that several months after that, a great deal would come our way and lookie, we would get to enjoy the dinner buffet and cultural dance show for only 250 pesos per head. I ♥ good deals. *twinkling eyes*

I hope both the food and show will be good. You can be sure that the Curious Cat will write about it here. 🙂 *meow*

Book your Spa Party with E-Relax!

My 2011 Christmas get-together with my girlfriends was a spa party! Good times. 🙂

Who doesn’t love taking time off and going to the spa? Nowadays, even men troop to spas to get their massage (the wholesome type!) and pamper themselves. For women, it’s double the treat to go with girlfriends! Nothing still beats the shared experience of getting a mani-pedi and enjoying a massage, right girls? ♥

Good thing that E-Relax is offering Spa Party Package Discounts good for groups of 8 or 12 through Ensogo.com.ph!

“Pampering yourself may be a lone mission for you every week but why not combine bonding with your gal pals and partying in one relaxing treat? Let E-Relax take care of you and your friends with a Spa Party Package good for 8-12 people that you can conveniently do at home or in your rented hotel suite. Feel luxurious with 5 hours of body massage, body reflex, foot spa, hand spa, mani-pedi, hair-do styling, and lots of chitchat with your barkada and you’ll definitely feel both rejuvenated and refreshed with this worthwhile bonding with your friends.”

Real Love vs. Imitation Love

Text-heavy post. But I reckon it’s worth the read. Especially for those who seek real love.

Last Saturday, my friends and I trooped over to World Trade Center for Real Love Revolution II, an afternoon of talks by Youth Ministry veteran Chris Stefanick and America’s Next Top Model finalist Leah Darrow. The first installment of this was held in SMX  last year where we heard Jason Evert speak. We were all blown away with his talk and were, thus, all excited for the second part of Real Love Revolution! 🙂

Just a short note on the Real Love Revolution (from their Facebook page):

“Real Love Revolution is a movement by young people who have come to a clear realization that not everything the world labels as love is love in its real sense. Seeing that choosing to subscribe to a false version of love can be destructive, these young people have decided to work at spreading the true meaning of love by putting up events that not only help enlighten the minds of the youth but also aid them in appreciating and in celebrating genuine love, with all its joys and pains. In partnership with I Am S.T.R.O.N.G., RLR is now celebrating its fifth year carrying the constant tagline and challenge,”i Keep Love Real”.”

A truly awww-worthy photo of Chris with his baby

What I appreciate about this year’s Revolution is that there are two speakers who got to address both the male and female crowd. I’m sure the guys learned not just a thing or two but a whole lot from Chris, who is also a father to three girls, on how to be a real man. And the girls certainly oohh-ed and aahh-ed over how pretty Leah is (I know because I was fangirling), who, by the way, effectively channels modesty in her own demeanor.

The talks were awesome – the content was right on and the speakers were moving but never preachy. I was so tempted to bring out my notepad and pen and take down notes during the whole talk. 😛 I’m so awed with both Chris and Leah that I find myself typing up this post and sharing with you tidbits from that afternoon’s talks.
